New Art Department Website and Blog

August 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Mrs. Giglio has created a website for the ART ROOM!  This website will include information and pictures on projects we are working on, interactive art website links for kids to visit, updates on donations needed for a project, and other fun facts and tidbits.  PLEASE VISIT:  www.acs-art.blogspot.com or simply scroll down to the blogroll on this website and click on the link, Art Department!

In addition to the ACS ART website, we will still be using Artsonia as a way to share student artwork with family and friends! Artsonia is the largest online student art gallery and is a wonderful way to preserve their artwork in an online portfolio.  Please visit the ACS Artsonia school page and support our ACS artists!

If you have any questions about Artsonia, please e-mail Mrs. Giglio:  melissa.giglio@arapahoe.charter.k12.nc.us

We will be posting artwork on Artsonia as soon as projects are completed…artwork from last year is on our school page and this years artwork is about to begin! Stay tuned…

2nd Graders Stuff Shoe Boxes!!

December 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Our 2nd graders worked together by bringing in money and items to fill shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  They were visited by local community member Barbara James who explained Operation Chirstmas Child is a project that sends boxes filled with gifts all over the world to children who have never experienced Christmas. Together, both 2nd grade classes stuffed a total of eleven boxes to send. They will now track the boxes to learn where they go and then study the areas that their shoe boxes have impacted!
